The Harvey family has lived in Thunder Bay for four generations. Richard, born in Port Arthur, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jerome Harvey spent his childhood between Thunder Bay and Nipigon. As the son of a country doctor, Richard learned at an early age the importance of caring for the needs of others.
Richard is a graduate of Lakehead University and is married with two children.
His wife Judy is a nurse with Nipigon District Memorial Hospital and serves on the Regional Palliative Care Advisory Committee; daughter Moriah is in her final year of nursing at Lakehead and son Aidan is taking mechanical engineering at Confederation College. Richard Harvey is the Mayor of Nipigon. As a father he deals with the issues of raising a family every day. As a Mayor he deals with issues of raising a community.
